Described as ‘An expert craftsman’- (Chortle.co.uk) George Lewis followed in the footsteps of of Jack Whitehall and Sarah Millican to win the Amused National New Comic Award at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe.
He has since won a bunch of other titles, placed Runner Up in the prestigious Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year, reached the final of the BBC New Comedy Award, was hand-picked to perform as part of the Pleasance Reserve, supported Romesh Ranganathan on tour and played to three thousand people at the Edinburgh Playhouse as part of the Comedy Gala.
He also writes, acts and presents.
"That accolade went to George Lewis for the sheer inventive strength of his writing. He’s clearly a linguaphile, while his [background] as an advertising copywriter has sharpened his focus in fashioning efficiently pithy phrases that stick in the mind. But there’s also a context that makes his routines more than a parade of one-liners, as he paints himself as a loveable loser, especially in love. An expert craftsman, Lewis deservedly adds this title to the 2015 Amused Moose Award, which he won at the Edinburgh Fringe last month."
"George Lewis stood out as the funniest. At the very least because every single one of his gags got full laughter… plenty of intuitive subversive humour [and] his geeky self-assurance made the audience erupt. 9/10"
